The Trust Board of ITDR shares our Members’ concerns about COVID-19.
As retirees we are in a high risk group. We want to be prepared, and have questions about how our Medical and Prescription Drug Plans are prepared to support us during this challenging time.
Below please find helpful information and resources specific to your Anthem Medical Plan and your Express Scripts Prescription Drug Plan:
Anthem’s health plans waive Members’ costs for COVID-19 testing
Amid the growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in communities across the country, Anthem is working to eliminate some burden of additional costs for Members by providing coverage for the coronavirus screening test at no out-of-pocket cost to you. Please note that this test must be ordered by your doctor, as with any lab test.
Testing similar to what is offered now from the Centers for Disease Control will soon be offered more broadly. Anthem will waive any otherwise applicable copays, coinsurance, deductibles and/or prior authorization that could otherwise extend to this focused test used to diagnose COVID-19, when recommended by a doctor as medically necessary.

Express Scripts answers questions about prescriptions and refills:
Express Scripts has made information available to Members when visiting your account at express-scripts.com, or you can also access this direct link: Coronavirus COVID-19 Resource Center.
Some states have recently declared a State of Emergency due to COVID – 19. While State of Emergency declarations usually are a trigger for refill overrides (meaning allowing earlier refills) in a weather-related emergencies, present conditions currently (thankfully) do not call for implementation of such overrides. Implementing overrides prematurely could put a strain on the supply chain and disrupt current inventories for everyone.
We understand our Members’ desire to be prepared. Standard refill policies, which allow Members to refill or renew a prescription medication when 25%-35% of your current prescription is remaining, should help you stay on track with your medication during this time.
Getting your prescriptions by mail is a great way to get a longer-term supply, without leaving home. Members can ask their physician (or pharmacist to request via the physician) to write a prescription for a 90-day supply as applicable or as permitted by law.
At pharmacies that participate in the ITDR Low Cost Generics program, Members can obtain a 90 day supply of listed maintenance medications at the applicable copay of $2 or $4 per 31-day supply. View the lists of ITDR Low Cost Generic covered drugs on www.itdr.com. Go to “Benefit Plans” and click “Prescription Drug Plan.” Visit www.express-scripts.com to find participating ITDR Low Cost Generics pharmacies.
For more information about managing your medications during this time, please view the Refill Responsibility Lab Blog article on the Express Scripts website.
Call Express Scripts toll-free at 1-844-470-1529, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with any questions about your Prescription Drug Benefits.
